Gimp is free software developed by various people on the internet. it's a collective effort. One of the best things is it works under Linux. Its efficient, reliable and powerful. However its not so well documented as some of the comercial products.
For many years I used Serif Photoplus, which is a great value product. You can even get a free copy of an earlier version as www.freeserifsoftware.com
Next on my list came a look at Adobe Photosop Elements which is given away with many digital cameras. 30 evaluations can be found all over.
I've now moved onto the full product Adobe Photoshop CS2 which does about everything I can think of. My main reason fo moving onto this was the sheer number of books and tutorials that are available. I suspect most of what I am doing could be done with the Serif software if I could just find the time to learn all the options.

Photobox is my choice of location to put images for friends and family to look at. Through its service they can order their own copies of my pictures. Print quality has always been very good as has the speed of delivery.
Photobucket gives me 1GB of space to upload photographs and images for use on various web sites and forums.
You can link to your photos through either

Upixia is a service I hope to investigate further real soon. Giving a way for keen photographers to sell there images without requiring the very high resolution files that many such services require. My goal is to have a set of photos approved by the end of 2006 and to sell a photograph comercially in 2007.
